Today I’m focussing on adding a bit more color variety. With a warm and cold color, I need to decide where to place them in the face. Some areas will be darker (nose, cheeks, ears) and some less so.
I’m also laying the foundation for some details. When painting eyes, it’s very important that the basic shapes of the iris and the pupil are aligned correctly. They both need to looks at the same point and the pupil is alway in the center of the iris. Take time to get this right before you jump to adding details. It’s very difficult to correct afterwards!
In this portrait I’m using Golden Open paints, in Burnt Sienna and Phthalo Blue with Titanium White.
