Painting Camille Claudel’s “l’Homme Penché”

I had a wonderful time with you all during the two live streams where I painted the bulk of this tiny panel. I finished it with an extra 1,5 hours of work that I recorded as well. And it’s done now!

This is one of my favourite sculptures by Claudel, although it’s hard to choose. I didn’t really intended this to be this finished; my initial idea was to do a one hour oil sketch. But I liked the idea of leaving it to dry and see what else we could do the next week. Also, this sculpture is just therapy to look at for hours so that helped haha!

I used oil paint in Vine Black, Burnt Umber, Raw Umber, Burnt Sienna, Green Earth and Lithopone White. I also used Velazquez medium and Oleogel, both by Rublev Paints. I paint on aluminium composite panels. This one was primed and then partially covered with a crackle paste that I made. You can watch the live stream and the final pass in the videos below.
