Mixed Emotions / Portrait 1

In the final stage we’ll be adding some interesting textures using charcoal and charcoal powder.

We focus on bringing some dynamic and visual interest with marks and losing a few edges.

Adding values using pastel, we also step back and determine where we want to take this painting.

Our first layers of paint establish the big shapes in black and white paint.

Let’s start this project by going over the materials and learning about drawing a head in a tilted position.
